Instructions for Use

Areas of Application

Ideal for fixing all types of tiles up to 600mm x 600mm in interior and exterior areas over floors and walls. Best suited for wet/ exposed areas such as bathrooms and roofs to resist water ingress related issues.

Substrate

The substrate to be tiled must be levelled, cured, undamaged, compact, rigid, resistant, dry, and free from any loose particles and damp risings.

Suitable Substrates
  • Concrete
  • Concrete Masonry
  • Cement based Screeds
  • Cement Mortar Beds
  • Cement Plaster
  • Cement Terrazzo
  • Brick Masonry
  • Existing Tiles and Natural Stones
Surface Preparation
  • All surfaces must be dimensionally stable as per IS 1443 (1972)
  • If the adhesive is to be applied onto a cement based surface, ensure that the substrate to be tiled has cured for a minimum of 7 days before application of the adhesive
  • It is recommended to always dampen absorbent cement-based surfaces
  • Ensure that the back of the tile or stone to be fixed is free of any dust or coating
Adhesive Preparation

Pour clean potable water into a container and to it add FixCera™ Hydra and mix until a smooth consistency is attained. Add more water to the mixture if needed to obtain the desired consistency. Allow the mixture to rest for 5 minutes and remix again before use. Ensure to always add adhesive to water and not vice-versa.

Mixing Proportion

Approximately 6.0L of clean potable water is required for one 20 kg bag of FixCera™ Hydra.

Installation
  • Dampen the substrate and remove any excess water before applying the adhesive, and ensure that the area is shaded from sunlight
  • Apply the adhesive onto the substrate with the straight edge of a trowel with a scraping motion to ensure optimum surface contact
  • Then apply the additional adhesive with an appropriate notched trowel
  • To ensure maximum adhesion it is important to apply a sufficiently thick layer of the adhesive
  • For large tile with anyone side greater than 300mm should be back buttered with the same adhesive to appropriate thickness
  • It is crucial to check samples and make sure that the back of the tile is completely bedded in the adhesive with total coverage
  • Any excess adhesive should be cleaned from the surface of the tile with a wet cloth or sponge while the adhesive is fresh
